A common reason for the EasySearch Utilitynot being able to detect a DNS-323 device on thenetwork is due to a particular setting in Windows. Note: theinstructions below refer to Windows XP. The same settings can beapplied to Windows 2000 and Windows Vista, however the screens maydiffer from the screenshots below
To change this setting, you will need to go to the WindowsControl Panel and find NetworkConnections.

This will show you a list of all the network adapters installedin your PC. You will need to edit the properties of the one you useto connect to the DNS-323, usually called Local AreaConnection if you are using a cable, or the WirelessLAN connection if you are connecting to it wirelessly, e.g.via a wireless router.
To access the properties, right-click on the icon and selectProperties, then double-click on theInternet Protocol (TCP/IP) entry in thelist of items in the middle of that window.
Click on the Advanced button at thebottom of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)Properties to see the Advanced TCP/IPProperties.

On the WINS tab of that page, ensurethat NetBIOS settings is set to eitherEnable NetBIOS over TCP/IP orDefault.
It should not be necessary to restart your computer afterchanging these settings. The next time you run theEasySearch Utility, the software should detect theDNS-323.
